Background/Overview:

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) operates a number of remote stations in the Antarctic. These stations rely on a number of communication systems including HF, C-band VSAT and Iridium. As well as this, BAS operates radars investigating the Aurora and the upper atmosphere as well as ice penetrating radars looking at the ice sheets and the underlying rock. This position will contribute to the operation and maintenance of this broad range of equipment.

An ideal candidate will have a background in electronics and understand the principles of RF engineering. They will also have organizational/administration skills and a willingness to learn. From this base we would like to grow the other skills needed for the job. Specialist skills training will be provided by the team or externally if required.
