Do you enjoy cooking varied, appetising, nutritious, and appealing food, if so, we are looking for a person to join our small kitchen team at Wayfield Avenue Resource Centre which provides care & accommodation to people with severe and enduring mental health needs.

About the role

Wayfield Avenue is looking for a assistant cook to join the team

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience of cooking, preferable within a care setting
  • An understanding of the need to provide a varied diet that meets the needs of service users.
  • An understanding of different specialist diets such as low sodium, diabetic, fat enhancing or the willingness to undertake training to learn this.
  • Knowledge & experience of working in a professional kitchen ensuring high standards of food hygiene and infection control are maintained.
  • A flexible & resourceful approach to work situations.
  • Ability to work on their own and as part of a team.
  • An interest in their own professional development and motivation to attend training.
  • A willingness to support trainees / apprentices in their development.
  • The role includes working a fixed 2-week rota which includes some weekend and evening working till 7pm.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
