At Breathe we know that climate change is one of the biggest challenges the world faces. We work hard to help our customers in delivering their ambitions towards Net Zero coupled with long term cost reduction and have been for over 10 years now. We’re passionate about sustainability and making changes to the built environment to help our customers reduce their energy consumption and ultimately their carbon emissions; by renewing their buildings infrastructure; saving on operating costs and improving the efficiency of their buildings.

We’re part of something bigger, Imtech one of the UK’s leading technical services groups, which is jointly owned by Dalkia and EDF Energy, Britain’s biggest generator of low carbon electricity. This means we can access the strength of our wider Group, without losing the appeal or agility of being a smaller, but rapidly growing business.

Our clients include the NHS, Universities, local authorities, and the private sector, and we’re growing all the time!

Breathe has a diverse and inclusive ethos. We want to attract a range of talented individuals to join our team. Our success is only possible because of our outstanding team and we’re looking to build on our strong foundations.

What you will be working on…

In this role you will be supporting the full life cycle of our projects particularly the design, construction verification and post completion savings. You will collaborate with external and internal design teams to develop buildable designs that mitigate construction and operational risks, execute energy savings and deliver solutions on time.

  • Assisting the preparation and submission of funding applications, including Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) applications.
  • Energy modelling and feasibility studies.
  • Carrying out non-intrusive site audits to identify measures for savings such as lighting, HVAC, metering, fabric, central plant, infrastructure, and renewables.
  • Analysing and interpreting data and providing outputs such as benchmarking, load profile review, and regression.
  • Determining the potential carbon and energy savings, costs, and payback for energy measures.
  • Writing, developing and preparing detailed energy audits/studies including solicitation and summary of sub-contractor pricing, economic analysis, and technical specifications.
  • Liaising with clients, technical teams, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest regulations and guidance.
  • Working on client sites at various locations throughout the UK.

The skills and experience you need…

In order to be considered, you must have the following experience;

  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering field, preferably Energy Engineering.
  • Professional Membership with the Energy Institute or similar would be advantageous.
  • At least 2-3 years commercial experience ideally within an energy performance contractor or energy consulting working on live environments and existing sites.
  • Experience in delivering Energy Performance Contracts, energy auditing, report writing and developing output for both high level and investment grade audits.
  • A good understanding of energy conservation measures and the process to deliver studies accordingly.
  • Experience within engineering design and construction, systems operation and maintenance, energy modeling, report writing, and solution development.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and keep up to date with energy policies and sector relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines.

The other things we’d love you to have…

  • A passion for sustainability.
  • The skills and knowledge to drive improvements across the business.
