The Department of Humanities & Law at Bournemouth University is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor of Intellectual Property Law specialising in Trade Marks. The Department has a unique position as part of the Faculty of Media and Communication which is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has a global reputation for combining research in the creative industries together with teaching and professional practice.

Our campus is nestled between the idyllic New Forest and the golden sandy beaches of Bournemouth and Poole with the World Heritage Site, Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, close by. BU Law houses the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management (CIPPM) recognised as a global leader in IP scholarship and practice with a growing body of PhD students. In addition to CIPPM, Professor Klinkner has attracted £1.6 million in funding (European Research Council) to develop a comprehensive human rights framework around mass graves.

We are seeking to recruit a thought-leader for the future; an academic who is innovative and shows initiative in contributing to research, professional practice and teaching in Intellectual Property Law. You will be committed to a culture of academic excellence, continuous improvement and play a defining role in the development of CIPPM and research in Law. You will receive research mentorship from the Director of CIPPM and will be responsible for leading and collaborating on applications for grant capture. You will be a leader who will develop research strengths, environment and profile of the Faculty and contribute to shaping the Law curriculum.

It is essential that you have expertise in IP Law, with a focus in the area of Trade Marks. You will have the flexibility to teach IP on our LLB and/or LLM and PGCert in IP programmes as relevant. It is expected that you will hold a relevant Doctorate.
