This is a great opportunity to join our GAP Assistant Programme on a fixed term contract from 24/04/2023 to 13/12/2023. The role is aimed at individuals who are looking for an opportunity to become part of a creative, caring and nurturing school community. The successful candidates will spend 2 terms working alongside teaching professionals. As a GAP Assistant at Dunhurst and Dunannie, you will be provided with the tools to develop your skills and experiences, both personally and professionally, as you immerse yourself fully in school life as a member of the staff team.

Bedales School is a unique educational establishment, set in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. Our aim is to create an environment where questioning, divergent thinking and freedom to learn from mistakes are all encouraged. Central to our success is the sense that each person is a member of our community whose voice is entitled to be heard and treated with respect. Both our staff and students expect of each other the best kind of relationships – co-operative, authentic and trustful.

Experience & Background

The successful candidate will support the everyday running of the school and follow a busy and diverse timetable assisting teachers in class, on the games field, on school trips, in the boarding houses and supervising break times.

Duties

The role of GAP Assistant at Dunhurst and Dunannie is far from routine with no two days being the same. In order to be successful in this post you will need to:

  • Exercise enthusiasm and show initiative
  • Be a team player
  • Be willing to help out and get stuck in
  • Enjoy being part of a close-knit community
  • Have fun and enjoy what you are doing
  • Have a good sense of humour and be prepared to work hard and be adaptable

In return we offer you a supportive and caring working environment with the opportunity during the generous school holidays to travel and explore the UK and further afield.

Hours of Work

The hours of work will be 40 hours per week. Ideally, successful candidates will be resident at the school and fulfil a boarding supervision role with the boarding team.

The role is a fixed term contract, term time only, from 24/04/2023 to 13/12/2023. We would also consider applications from individuals who would like to work for one term only.
